Gas Pipe Flow Velocity

This tool calculates the operating gas velocity within the pipeline. Elevated velocities can lead to erosion of the pipe interior over time. The upper threshold for gas velocity is roughly determined by the erosion velocity, derived from the API 14E empirical equation and reformulated utilizing gas law equations.

For non-corrosive fluids or corrosion resistant environment, API RP 14E recommends a c-factor of 150 to 200 for continuous service and up to 250 for intermittent service. For solid free corrosive fluids, typical a c-factor is 100 for continuous service and 125 for intermittent service.
